Awareness and Action. The High Line is one of New York's most iconic parks and attractions and a great place where many people can be taken on a journey learning about Africa's problems with famine and drought and ways to solve them during a weekend event with interactive games and presentations.
The idea is to take people on an interactive journey throughout the park that will start with booths and visual representations focusing on the history of famine and drought in Africa. Then, as people meander through the park, they will get to a second area where they will see videos about the current problems in the Horn of Africa. The journey will then take them to an area with information booths from organizations in NYC that are working on these issues. Finally, they will get to a cardboard wall called “Your Journey Forward” where they will be encouraged to write a personal pledge about how they will help to solve these problems. There they will also find info regarding ways to continue “The High Line Journey” on YouTube and Twitter.
